about

After 41 years, I have recently learned a few essential things about myself and time in this aether. This great journey has led me to another song cycle. Another document of time. Another album. If you listen to this album start to finish, It’s a chronological story. While it’s not the album I thought I’d make, I love what we captured. It was a real, emotional trip for me. Frustration. Elation. In the end, the dust cleared in the studio where I had been sleeping, eating and creating. I was INSIDE the project. Leaving was difficult. After, I checked into a hotel to try and find my actual self again. To get back to normal. To resume life. This is what recording my albums are like for me. They try and steal me. But I won’t have it. They are the past. I don’t belong there. I look forward. I put the lid on the box and listen. The songs cry like little children. Begging for me to come back in. I don’t. I will revisit them from time to time, during live performance, and think about the time we spent inventing each other. Hampton. Fredericton. New York. Saskatoon. Edmonton. Lowell. Almonte. Pen and paper. Frequencies and flesh. Ones, zeros. How could I not. Like me, once they were nothing. In the end, undeniably, they are all essential Elements of me. Who I am. My history. My present. My future.
